Dr. Yağmur Nuhrat
Yağmur Nuhrat is a cultural anthropologist, currently serving as assistant professor at Istanbul Bilgi University, Department of Sociology. She holds a PhD from Brown University, Department of Anthropology, earned in 2013, before which she received an MA from the same department and a BA in Sociology from Boğaziçi University in Istanbul. After completing her doctorate, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Kadir Has University, Istanbul Studies Center. Her research interests include the anthropology of ethics and morality; sports and football (soccer) anthropology; gender, language and women's football; urban anthropology, cities and traffic. She has published in edited volumes and peer-reviewed journals including Mobilities (2020), American Ethnologist (2018), Fashion Theory (2019) and the Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies (2017). In 2019, she started pursuing two research projects, one focusing on ethical negotiations in higher education through the phenomenon of plagiarism and the other on the concept of equality in women's football in Turkey.
