BİLGİGender was founded in February 2019. In December 2018, a meeting was called for the establishment of a gender studies unit in the University and then a very crowded meeting was held. istanbul Bilgi University Gender Working Group called BİLGİGender was founded in February and a symposium was held on March 8. This symposium brought together students and academics working in the field of gender and sexuality at İstanbul Bilgi University.

BİLGİGender aims to bring together academics and practitioners working in the field of gender and sexuality, create solidarity and pave the way for innovative and inclusive discussion areas at the national and global level. It organizes symposiums, training programs, workshops, and research projects through various civil society, public and academic collaborations. Aiming to follow current debates in the fields of gender and sexuality, the Unit aims to ensure the continuity, openness, and accessibility of the sharing of experience and knowledge through the reports and evaluations to be written after the activities.

BİLGİGender considers both theoretical nuances and socio-political experiences for its stance and activities.

As BİLGİGender, we invite researchers, practitioners, and students interested in the field of gender to participate in unit activities, to think together and produce.
