BİLGİGender was founded in February 2019. In December 2018, a meeting was called for the establishment of a gender studies unit in the University and then a very crowded meeting was held. istanbul Bilgi University Gender Working Group called BİLGİGender was founded in February and a symposium was held on March 8. This symposium brought together students and academics working in the field of gender and sexuality at İstanbul Bilgi University.

Within the scope of ‘November 25 the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women’, a panel titled ‘Struggling with Violence Against Women’ will be held. Before the panel, Fidan Ataselim from We Will Stop Femicide Platform will give a training on ‘Istanbul Convention and Protection Law 6284.’  

The workshop titled ‘Dreams of Social Inclusion in Football: Practices and Ideas’ was held in partnership with İstanbul Bilgi University Gender Working Group, İstanbul Bilgi University Department of Sports Management, and Association for Struggle Against Sexual Violence. We organized an interactive event with the participation of different actors in the field to discuss inclusive football on October 17, 2019.

The first activity of BİLGİGender, March 8 symposium aimed to bring together researchers working on gender issues at İstanbul Bilgi University and share their work. In addition, it aimed to make the multidisciplinary structure of gender studies in BİLGİ visible.
